An early foray on the glacier led to a commanding viewpoint. This route up the left side, though shorter, was deemed too dangerous because of potential avalanches. Golden Throne (7,312m) rises above our basecamp which is behind the ridge on the right. Not far up the valley behind the dark ridge is the Conway Saddle where Pakistan and India continue their absurd little war.
